Indicator metadata: Rail passenger regional typologies

The regional typologies for each passenger transport mode are defined by grouping and then applying a K-means model. Such a model uses a predetermined number of clusters. Based on a plausibility check, the number of clusters was set to three for air passenger transport and for maritime passenger transport and set to five for rail passenger transport.
Rail passengers
Based on these six indicators, the cluster analysis for passenger transport by rail was done. Regions were grouped into five clusters. The mechanism of the cluster analysis generated one larger cluster with regions that behave below average, two clusters around average, and differentiated two clusters of regions that are for most indicators above average.
