Indicator metadata: Air passenger regional typologies

The regional typologies for each passenger transport mode are defined by grouping and then applying a K-means model. Such a model uses a predetermined number of clusters. Based on a plausibility check, the number of clusters was set to three for air passenger transport and for maritime passenger transport and set to five for rail passenger transport.
Air passengers
The cluster analysis for air passenger transport uses the same six indicators. As for maritime passengers, the lower number of regions for air transport compared to land transport modes led to a predetermined number of three clusters only.
