Methodology

Turning points are identified for each territorial unit, enabling the date at which an economy recovered to pre-crisis peak activity levels post 1990s economic downturn to be identified. Territories that did not experience a downturn 'resisted' (RS) the crisis, those that recovered to pre-crisis levels 'recovered' (RC), and those that never recovered to pre-crisis levels (H).
