Type: Project Other Data - July 12, 2022, 10:04 a.m.

Regional typologies of European regions is constucted using several local regional attributes including unemployment growth rates, youth unemployment growth rates, At-Risk of Poverty growth rates, territorial characteristics (predominantly urban, intermediate and predominantly rural regions, and epidemiological characteristics (COVID-19 death rates) using hierarchical agglomerative clustering method. The methodology used resulted in four classes (types or regions). Results highlihgt that there is a strong country effect, meaning that there is more heterogeneity between countries than within countries. This is in line with the idea that the way in which countries handled the pandemic can explain the greater or lesser impact in the regions.
