Potential accessibility by air, calculated by Spiekermann&Wegener.
For each region the population in all destination regions is weighted by the travel time to go there. The weighted population is summed up to the indicator value for the accessibility potential of the origin region. All indicator values are expressed as index, i.e. related to the ESPON average. The indicator gives the absolute change of the accessibility potential between two points in time. Absolute change is expressed in relation to the population-weighted ESPON average in the year 2001 which has the value 100.
