The index of intensity is expressing the volume of flow within a given relation of all relations of a given spatial unit in absolute units of phenomenon (in the case of migration - persons). Weighted intensity is a value of the intensity index, related to the population of the given region. It supplements the intensity index by the consideration of the context of the demographic size of the region. A much smaller volume of flows can have a relatively higher importance in the case of a small region.
