The indicator External Influence measures the importance of the origin region from the perspective of the corresponding top destination region. Even though a region may be dependent on a single destination region, this importance may not hold from the perspective of the corresponding destination region. If this is the case, the influence of a region on its corresponding top destination region is limited. The indicator is expressed as the share of the largest freight transport flow to a destination region of all transport flows attracted by that destination region.
