How to use the ESPON DB Web Services

An important objective in ESPON 2020 is to ensure that all ESPON tools, using the data and metadata made available by the ESPON Database / Portal, should be directly accessed and connected to the ESPON Database and not maintained in separate databases or data repositories. To achieve this, we use Web Services to enable third-party applications to access ESPON data in an interoperable and seamless manner. The main functionalities that can be provided by such Web services are:

(1) data discovery

(2) data visualisation

(3) data filtering, and

(4) data download.

There are two types of Web services developed and described in detail in the next sections: OGC Web Services and REST Web Services.
